I'm Margay!
I'm good at vocal impressions and climbing trees. My favorite things? Movies and pretty girls! |
At a glance, Margay's kit gives the impression of a berserker-style unit: the more damage she takes, the more damage she deals. Her Unique Trait boosts her attack stat by a huge 30% when her HP falls below 30%, her Miracle gives her high
Threat to bait in attacks so as to lower her HP and keep damage off of allies, and her Standby Skill grants her another 30% attack boost accompanied by a 30% defense stat drop meant to more easily let her enter the sub-30% HP range. Her Unique Trait additionally reduces Margay's damage taken by 15% when her health drops under 60%, meaning her Standby Skill's penalty is effectively only a 15% drop, and her Miracle both boosts her evasion greatly and gives her 15% of damage she deals as health; these are likely meant to help prevent her from losing more health than needed. In tandem, Margay's Unique Trait and Standby Skill can allow her to abuse a colossal 60% attack boost when her HP drops below 30%, further amplified by a 10% boost from each of her Miracle and Rainbow Traits and giving the suggestion of a Friend who enemies cannot allow to fall into a low-health range, lest she strike back at them tenfold. She can also provide some defensive utility by granting evasion boosts to her allies, letting them evade strong Beat attacks that might otherwise quickly wear her teammates down.
Despite these promising traits, Margay's kit suffers one glaring fatal flaw: her Miracle does not deal any damage, forcing her to rely on her Beat to take advantage of her great attack boosts. It doesn't boost the offenses or defenses of her allies either; while the evasion boost her Miracle bestows is handy against strong spread-damage Beat attackers such as Brown Bear and Japanese Pancake Devilfish, it is not useful against enemy Miracles—which ignore evasion buffs and debuffs—leaving her team vulnerable to the game's most powerful attacks.
Consequent of Margay's self-contradictory kit, which can leave her struggling to compete even with 2- and 3-star Friends, heavy resource investment in this feline Friend is not recommended for anyone besides the most devoted of Margay enthusiasts. She is far from unusable, but can be difficult to use effectively compared to more intuitive attackers, especially in the competition-heavy
Active attribute category where other powerful attackers with team support traits such as Kirin and Peach Panther (V2) can also be found.
