Common Eland is a type of Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
Appearance
The old design of Common Eland is a friend with hazel hair that flares out over the shoulders. She wears a marzipan-colored button-front shirt and a pleated red plaid skirt with white lines. Under her brown slip-on shoes, she wears hazel thigh-high socks that fade into white on her lower legs and have a black line under each of her thighs. She has a light beige scarf tied around her neck that fades into black at the two loose fringes and wears two light beige wristbands. She has the Common Eland's tufted tail and pointed ears with white-furred insides that fade into black at the tips. She also has two small horns pointing slightly backwards with a steady spiral ridge that match that of the Common Eland. She bears a double-ended polearm with a red haft with ends that resemble the Common Eland's spiral horns.
The new design of Common Eland has a similar hairstyle, but her solid hazel-colored hair is replaced with mostly light beige with a wide streak of hazel that goes down the back of her head. The end of her hair fades into black and is in a hair tie.Her button shirt is now white with a popped collar, and she wears a brown vest over it that has three beige crescent-shaped markings that point upwards. Her scarf is smaller and tied differently, hanging over the middle of her chest instead of having two loose endings. She has the same skirt and shoes, but no longer wears thigh highs. Her ears and tail are now light beige, and the inside of her ears are brown and black. Her horns are much larger and point more directly upwards with more defined spiral ridges and fade from light gray at the base to dark gray at the tips. Her spear is mostly the same, but it has rounded guards in between the handle and the ends instead of two flat circular bases.

In Real Life
The common eland, is considered one of the largest antelope, second to the greater eland. The common eland can grow as tall as 70 inches at the shoulder and weigh as much as 1500 pounds! Native to the open plains of eastern and south Africa, this species of antelope grazes in herds of up to 500 on a variety of leaves and grasses and avoids densely wooded areas.
The common eland is one of few types of animals in which both the males and females have horns. Their horns have a distinct spiral in them that can be used to determine males from females. The males have a thicker, more prominent spiral, whereas the females have a thinner, more gradual spiral. The horns are used in different ways depending the sex of the eland. Males tend to use them to butt heads with other males when they are in rut. Females are more likely to use them to protect the young from predators.
Other distinctive features of the common eland include a dewlap and a unique clicking sound made when they walk. The dewlap is loose skin that hangs from the neck of the animal. This serves as a form of protection from predators. Typically, animals that prey on eland and other antelope, aim for the neck. The dewlap is an extra layer that the predator would have to work through before the eland is successfully victimized. Lastly the clicking sound made by the common eland comes from their feet. When the animal’s weight bears down on its hooves, its two halves separate and snap back together when its leg is raised back up. This is thought to be used as some form of communication to the heard as the sound can carry for some distance.
Trivia
Common Elands make clicking sounds with their knees when they walk.
