Blue-and-Yellow Macaw is a Friend that appears in the app version of Kemono Friends 3.

Personality

Blue-and-Yellow Macaw has an upbeat personality, loves to dance, and is even capable of imitating the dances of other Friends perfectly. Like Scarlet Macaw, she also likes to sing, as well as keeping her feathers clean and shiny, so she often bathes and plays in the water. She uses Spanish words and phrases like "Hola!" "¿Cómo estás?" and "Adiós!" to greet other Friends and the Captain, and says "Adiós!" after defeating celliens.

Role in the Plot

Blue-and-Yellow Macaw's Friend Story

Together with Scarlet Macaw, the two bathe at a lake while remarking how beautiful their feathers are glistening in the sunlight. While feeling inspired to dance and sing, the two are ambushed by a cellien, after which Blue-and-Yellow Macaw attempts to befriend it using her dancing. Having failed to befriend it, she swiftly defeats the cellien to protect Scarlet Macaw.

After Greater Bird-of-Paradise and Indian Elephant appear, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw asks if they'd like to bathe with the macaws. After Indian Elephant explains that they're at the lake for dance practice, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw gifts one of her feathers to Indian Elephant, with the other two birds also giving her some to make a crown of feathers.

The duo explains that they're working with Greater Flamingo to develop a new dance. When Blue-and-Yellow Macaw asks the duo what kind of dance it is, they struggle to explain it. The duo sighs, not being able to practice without Greater Flamingo, but Blue-and-Yellow Macaw demonstrates that she can imitate Flamingo's dance to everyone else.

While everyone is amazed with her ability to imitate Greater Flamingo's dance, she starts imitating the other Friends in the group's dances and singing. Everyone mentions how impressive it is that she can copy the dances so closely. She then offers to help Greater Bird-of-Paradise and Indian Elephant practice Greater Flamingo's dance.

After tiring from all the dancing that day, everyone is surprised how quickly night came. Everyone agrees to meet again for dancing another time before departing. After mentioning how much fun she had, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw starts to leave for home before feeling the gaze of someone watching her. When she spots Peregrine Falcon she calls out to her and asks if she wanted to see her, which scares Peregrine Falcon off.

While the macaws play in the water the following day, Resplendent Quetzal and Indian Peafowl arrive and join the macaws in the water so everyone can groom their feathers using the combs and hair oil the new birds brought.

When the macaws suggest the group dance, Indian Peafowl suggests they do something less intense instead. Blue-and-Yellow Macaw decides everyone should take a nap in the warm and bright sun, which Peafowl is much more receptive towards. While the group naps, Peregrine Falcon keeps her eye on Blue-and-Yellow Macaw from a distance, but she's still awake and wonders to herself why Peregrine Falcon keeps staring at her, before she ends up falling asleep.

Another day after bathing alone, she feels the urge to play. Hearing someone coming, she calls out thinking it's Scarlet Macaw, until Japanese River Otter reveals herself. She mentions not knowing Japanese River Otter well, and asks her if she comes to the lake often. She brings Otter at the spot on the lake with the beautiful sparkling water, and Otter asks why the water is gleaming. Macaw thinks it's due to something at the bottom of the lake but says she can't dive. Otter's quick diving speed impresses Macaw, and she brings back a shiny stone for her. She compliments Otter for the finding such a pretty stone. Thinking to herself about the bright yellow shine of the rock, she realizes that it reminds her of Peregrine Falcon's eyes.

When she asks Otter why Friends might stare at other Friends, she thinks it's because they might want to play together. Blue-and-Yellow Macaw realizes that to be the reason why Peregrine Falcon keeps staring at her, and thanks Japanese River Otter for helping. She calls out to Peregrine Falcon about her staring habit, and while she struggles to explain herself, Macaw has already invited her to play together. She mentions how much fun she sees Macaw having, to which Macaw mentions that all she had to do was ask to play with her. Feeling self-conscious, she says she's only good at flying fast, but no good at singing and dancing. Blue-and-Yellow Macaw says that it's not necessary to be good at it, anyone can do it and have fun. She takes Falcon's hand and shows her how to dance and sing. Together, the group of three spend the day dancing as new friends.

Relationships

Scarlet Macaw

As close friends, the two often bathe, sing, and dance together. She cares for Scarlet Macaw, defeating a cellien to protect her when Scarlet Macaw was instead trying to flee from it.

Peregrine Falcon

Although Peregrine Falcon stays distant and stares at Blue-and-Yellow Macaw initially, once she realizes that Falcon just wants to play with her, she reassures her that anyone can sing and dance even if they don't think they're good at it. They become friends after dancing together alongside Japanese River Otter.
