Gentoo Penguin is a Friend that appears in Kemono Friends 2.
Personality
Gentoo acts in a typical "idol" fashion and is the most formal of the penguins, consistent with her behavior in the first season. When Hululu mixes up the coffee jelly, Gean is the only penguin not to throw her arms up in shock. Rather, she opts to cover her mouth with her hands.
Role in the Plot
Episode 1: Beyond Memories
Like the other members of PPP, Gentoo Penguin makes an appearance in the post-credits sketch of this episode. In the sketch, Suri Alpaca delivers a coffee jelly to the table, which causes Gean to ask what it is. As the others start commenting on the appearance of the dessert, Hululu begins mixing the jelly, shocking all of the penguins, including Gean. However, like all the penguins, she calms down and asks to try to mixed coffee jelly once Hululu expresses satisfaction with the taste. The cast then introduce the title of the next episode together.
Trivia
- In the official English simulcast of the second season on Crunchyroll, during Hop In! Japari Beat, the portion in which Gentoo Penguin exclaims her name, "Gean", is often silent or quiet. This error is not present in the Japanese broadcasts of these episodes.
- Kyōka Tamura reprises her role as Gentoo Penguin from Season 1 as well as in Kemono Friends 3.
