Pronghorn is a type of Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.

Appearance

Pronghorn has medium-length light brown hair, which turns darker at the tips and outright black at the bangs. The side bangs have a band of white, as does the middle of her hair. Her horns emerge from underneath a tuft of white hair. She has purple eyes.

She wears a puffed shoulder, button-up white shirt that fades into a light brown at the edges, sleeves and back. It has a brown collar with white borders, as well as a bolo tie with a golden metal aglet.

She also has a purple folded skirt with white borders, brown stockings that fade into tan at the inner side, and white shoes tied with purple ribbons. Like all horned Friends, she has a double-edged spear whose spearheads mimic the horns of her respective animal, the pronghorn. Additionally, she also has pronghorn traits (similar to all other Friends, who have traits of their respective animals), which are horns and a tail.

Her updated design has major differences compared to the original one. Her animal ears are now longer, the horns are different, her hair keeps a similar pattern to the original one but now has a color scheme consisting of white, light orange almost crossing over into beige, and brown.

Her outfit has completely changed - she wears an orange and white track jacket, a near completely featureless white undershirt save for beige in the collar and two stripe marks on the chest, and beige bloomers. While the design of the shoes is mostly similar, the color scheme has changed to orange and black, and the socks are now drastically reduced in size and light orange in coloration.

The design of her weapon has also changed - it has a single prong that splits into a design reminiscent of a real pronghorn's horns, with a single blue ribbon before it.

In Real Life

The pronghorn, also nicknamed 'the American Antelope', is a mammal native to North America. Their range spans from Northern Mexico up to Southern Canada. They're reddish-brown with a white underbelly, white stripes on their throat and a very distinct white patch on their rump. Their faces are darker with a black nose and they have large horns above their eyes. Said horns curve backward and split once into prongs facing forward, giving the species its name.

Pronghorns live in herds. In the winter, they form big herds to migrate to other feeding grounds. In the summer, the herds will split into smaller groups separated by sex, while the males fight over the female herds to gain mating rights. After a gestation period of 250 days, one or two fawns will be born. Both sexes have horns, but the females horns are smaller and don't split. Their horns are shed every year and regrow in the winter in preparation for the mating season.

Pronghorns have amazing eyesight, allowing them to spot predators early. They are the second fastest land animal on earth, and can outrun every predator in their natural habitat, the open plains. Their diet consists of all kinds of vegetation they can find, including cacti, grasses and sagebrush. While the species was highly endangered in the 1800s, it has since recovered thanks to conservation efforts and only sub-populations in Mexico and Baja California remain threatened.
