Despite the short period of time between the start of production and the start of broadcasting, there are many unused contents in Kemono Friends 2. This page introduces unused contents in this work based on conceptual designs by Mine Yoshizaki and interviews with staff members. Please note that this page also describes content used after this work.
Unused Characters
Orca
Although she is mentioned in the main Kemono Friends 2 anime, there is a sketch by Mine Yoshizaki that depicts her. Therefore, it is believed that a 3DCG model could have appeared.
African Bush Elephant
One of the sketches by Mine Yoshizaki, in which African Bush Elephant is depicted with a red cross mark on the feather on Kyururu's hat. It depicts her as a giant as a result of her Wild Release.
As a side note, Mine Yoshizaki drew several sketches of African Bush Elephant in his sketches after the first season of Kemono Friends aired, and it is possible that he himself wanted African Bush Elephant to appear in his anime works.
Honey Badger
One of Mine Yoshizaki's sketches shows Honey Badger, who uses an abandoned car as her home, with Serval. There is no other information about Honey Badger other than this sketch, so it is unclear how much potential there was for her to appear in the anime.
Bengal Tiger
The sketch by Mine Yoshizaki describing Beast shows Bengal Tiger, not Siberian Tiger. From this sketch, it can be inferred that the Friends that would become Beast were in all cases Friends of the tiger.
Siberian Husky
A sketch of a Siberian Husky sitting in a residence and looking out over a garden exists in the sketch by Mine Yoshizaki. In the main animation, it is replaced by Domestic Dog (Mixed-Breed).
Other variations of Lucky Beast
Three variations of Lucky Beast appear in the main anime film: a pirate Lucky Beast, an amigo Lucky Beast, and a military-style Lucky Beast, but three other patterns of Lucky Beast have been revealed to exist in drawings of Kemono Friends 2 related products The first is the dressed in winter gear like an Antarctic explorer. The second is a Lucky Beast wearing what appears to be the traditional costume of the Kingdom of Thailand, and the third is a Lucky Beast wrapped in what looks like a green scarf.
Jellyfish-shaped Cellien
A sketch of Common Bottlenose Dolphin looking at a jellyfish-shaped Cellien exists in a sketch by Mine Yoshizaki. It is unclear if this Cellien was replaced by the ship-shaped Cellien in the anime.
Cut Scenes and Episodes
Deleted Episode
In an interview with the staff of Kemono Friends 2[1], it was revealed that Blue Wildebeest and Thomson's Gazelle, who appear in episode 8, were originally characters from another episode and were incorporated as spectators in PPP's live show as a result of the episode's deletion.
Another live scene of PPP
In the storyboards of Tomason, the production company, it is indicated that a live scene of PPP was supposed to be depicted in the scene where “Welcome to Japari Park (Tadaima Version)” is played in episode 12. As mentioned in the dialogue in the anime, the helipad was supposed to be the venue for the live performance.
Changed design
Kyururu
In what appears to be an early sketch by Mine Yoshizaki, the feather on Kururu's hat has a red cross mark written on a white background.
Red Panda
An interview with the staff of Kemono Friends 2[2] reveals that Red Panda design was initially for the regular Red Panda at the beginning of production, and that the EX Red Panda design was sent to the production staff by Mine Yoshizaki after the 3DCG model of the regular Red Panda was completed.
Unused Designs
Other variations of Japari Line
Similar to the Japari Bus design, several patterns exist for the Japari Line design.
Unused Locations
Spaceport
One sketch by Mine Yoshizaki depicts a spaceport that exists at the base of the Sand Star Tower growing out of it. It later appeared as a cover illustration for Kemono Friends 2 ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK.
Ice Canyon
A sketch by Mine Yoshizaki depicts a place called Ice Canyon Station, indicating that it was the location where PPP's live concert venue was to exist. It is similar to the landscape depicted in the poster illustration for PPP in the Sky!, but it is unclear if it is the same location. The mountains in the background are modeled after Grand Canyon, and the city in the foreground is modeled after Santorini Island.
It officially appeared in Kemono Friends 3.
Japari Mart
In the sketch by Mine Yoshizaki, there is an illustration ofGreater Lophorina and Western Parotia standing in front of a convenience store, which is Japari Mart. This convenience store has the same name as the convenience store that appeared in the manga "Kemono Friends: Welcome to Japari Park!", but the design is slightly different.
Log House
One of Mine Yoshizaki's sketches shows that a log house could have been used as the design for Kaban's house, a space in which elements from past works are placed, including Suri Alpaca tea set from the first anime season and a boom box from Stage Play "Kemono Friends" series. The sketch also describes many settings that were not used in the main anime series, such as Kaban teaching letters to Friends. The notes accompanying the drawing are written in the past tense, which seems to suggest that either Kaban has already abandoned this log house or that Kaban itself has already left this world.
The building is based on a building that appears in The Evil Dead.
The basement of Kaban house
Mine Yoshizaki's sketch depicts the existence of the Japari Line station in the basement of Kaban's house, which appears in episode 6. It is unclear how it was planned to be used in the anime. It depicts a number of sealed off areas, suggesting either to keep something out or to keep something in.
Incorrectly used music
Connect the Stars (Demo)
This is a demo version of "Connect the Stars" that was accidentally used during the first TV broadcast of Kemono Friends 2. The overall sound quality of the instruments used is cheesier than the released version. Although it is used, it is explained on this page because it is a song that should not have been used.
