The Eurasian tree sparrow is a sparrow species found across Eurasia, thriving in a wide range of habitats including plains, woodlands, beaches, and urban areas. These sparrows have brown-colored bodies, sometimes closer to black, with white plumage around the face and cheeks, and black plumage near the beak. These birds are naturally tree nesters, but are content to inhabit human structures, nesting under the eaves of houses or in the rafters of abandoned buildings. Their diet is omnivorous, consisting of seeds, grains, berries, and small insects. Eurasian tree sparrows form small flocks, typically in the range of 3 to 5 birds, and are often seen together with other bird species such as the sooty-headed bulbul; these species have even been observed forming mixed flocks.
