A list of all Friends based on carnivorous mammals representing the cat subfamily Felinae, the memebrs of which are commonly known as small cats. This is not strictly because they are of small size, as the group includes large animals such as the cougar and cheetah, but rather to distinguish it from its sister group, the "big cats" of Pantherinae.
Members of Felinae possess a bony hyoid bone, which enables them to purr, but not to roar; this is in contrast to their pantherine cousins, for whom the opposite is true.
This list also includes UMA Friends who are identifiable as being based on members of Felinae, such as Maneki Neko (who is based on a domestic cat).
