In Kemono Friends Kingdom, Boss Celliens are a special, powerful class of Cellien which are typically battled alone on their own dedicated stages. These Celliens have various special traits and abilities that can make them dangerous for unprepared teams, and tend to unleash super-powered attacks after a number of turns have passed. Raid battles are fought against a rotating roster of Boss Celliens, and some stages and areas have one or more unique Boss Celliens which only appear there.
General Strategy
- Boss Celliens tend to start fights with a special aura that boosts their attacking stats to dangerous levels. This buff is dispelled by the Miracle of a
Control Friend, making this role virtually necessary on all teams seeking to combat most Boss Celliens in any meaningful way. - Because Boss Celliens unleash super-charged attacks at set intervals, bringing at least one
Guard Friend is strongly recommended when battling most Boss Celliens. Time this Friend's Miracle to coincide with the turn the Boss Cellien intends to unleash its super attack. For some Boss Celliens who fire off a strong attack on the turn before their super attack, it may be advantageous to bring two
Guard Friends. - Learning the unique mechanics of each Boss Cellien is essential, as some fights may discourage typical game-play strategies such as attacking Cores.
Alphabetical List of Boss Celliens
In Kemono Friends Kingdom's English translation, "Cerulean" is used instead of "Cellien", so the flavor text transcripts added to these profiles will follow suit so as to accurately represent what was in the game.
Aggressive Sniper

“Before I could react, uncountable leaves danced and darted in my sight. It was just so confusing and scary! You should be careful too!” | ||

Bubble Poisonous Flower
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“I was sitting under the lush canopy of the jungle and enjoying its unique fauna, then I heard "Poof! Poof!". I wondered if something exploded, and before I could react... this sticky fluid is all over my face. What a disgrace... You should be careful too, oi!” | ||
Strategy
Core-spam strategies are the way to go against this Boss.
Serval with Habit III, The Joy of Friendship, eats this Boss for dinner.
Chevrotain's Clean Life Habit can be used to reduce poison damage if you're being troubled by it.
Chaotic Assassin
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“Those beautiful ball cacti are a boon to desert travelers, except for that sort which is as big as a castle. Those will fire a barrage of spikes when the flowers on their top bloom, and it really hurts. I hope that you would not have to suffer that.” | ||
Strategy
The Miracles of
Guard Friends dispel [Stabbed]. Use one of their Miracles before the Chaotic Assassin's charged attack.
Cowardly Clam
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Subway |
| |
“The huge clam among the plants suddenly opened its shells and fired a water jet... So I turned around... and I got hit by a wave. Sigh, it totally killed the vibe for the casual dip.” | ||
Strategy
As mentioned, dealing with this Boss requires the player to strategize around how many times their Friends will be hitting the Boss in a turn, between Catapult strikes, Miracle attacks, and basic attacks. You always want Cowardly Clam to be facing your group when possible; only Friends who can tank its powerful wave attack should ever end up behind it! You can control the rhythm by timing your Miracles well and strategizing when you should and should not directly hit the Boss with your Patrol Plane launches.
Dull Sniper
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“That thing might be slow, but it would act out of expectations sometimes. Make sure that you don't trigger it, or you would have a rough time dealing with it... Be very careful!” | ||
Strategy
Firefly Conch
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fluorite Riverbank |
| |
“This is a crafty Cerulean that can camouflage itself, and many had witnessed it change its shape. Rumor has it that its shell will be tougher when starlight appears on it. That is all I know, you will have to further investigate yourself.” | ||
Strategy
The Firefly Conch is the Boss found at the end of the Fluorite Riverbank material farming area. It doesn't actually attack; as such, you don't generally want to bring any
Guard Friends. This guy is surrounded by collectible Fluorites, some of which it eats every turn it remains alive. The faster you kill the Boss, the more Fluorites you should receive.
Firefly Coral
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story |
| |
“The coral reef was wavering in the sea like a horde of fireflies, and it was gorgeous! I sneaked and tailed it all the way upstream, and we'd actually ended up in freshwater... This guy gets really freaky when it spits bubbles, so be careful, Friends!” | ||
Strategy
This is a super weird Boss. You don't really beat it by damaging it with attacks, but rather by letting it defeat itself; its HP pool is too large to wear down, but when it enters its second phase its attacks drain its HP. To activate its second phase, [Out of Control], strike the coral on its back directly with Patrol Plane Catapult attacks and the Miracles of
Group Assault Friends, and/or other AoE-capable Friends such as
Jaguar, in order to break it; once all the coral is broken, the next phase will activate. At this stage, it's a survival game; make sure you bring at least two
Guard Friends to protect your team from the super dangerous attacks the Firefly Coral will start to launch, consuming its own HP in the process. After a few turns, it'll run out of HP and die, so hang in there!
Green Clad Knight
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“The legend of the Green Clad Knight is widespread across the Kingdom. It wanders around and emits a strange green light from time to time. Whatever plant is hit by the light will grow rampantly, no matter the season... I am guessing that it has something to do with the mysterious luminous matter in its body. And I believe no good will come from such eldritch growth.” | ||
Strategy
You don't need to bring a
Heal Friend for this fight, doing so is generally redundant. The only case in which you'd want a healer is for their Combo bonus with another Friend you've brought to the fight. Absolutely do bring a
Guard Friend though; while the Boss may be healing you, that isn't exactly a gesture of goodwill, as it plans to unleash a powerful blast that deals more damage to Friends with more [Overheal] stacks on them.
Horned Warrior
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story |
| |
“I was taking a nap in the bushes when this gigantic pair of horns popped up right in my face. I did not even get to see the whole thing... it is even bigger than the horns of Aurochs. Be careful too. (yawns)” | ||
Strategy
A very simple Boss that can't do much to ranged Friends. Most players will not face issues with Horned Warrior if they just use even mildly strong ranged attackers.
Hungry Quacker
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story |
| |
“ T-That was a scary, huge, gaping maw! I saw it swallow a whole rock, then chewed the whole thing away... Boo hoo, it would have been terrible if it was a Friend! You must be careful!” | ||
Strategy
Lady in White
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“It is so beautiful! It hovers elegantly in the air and dances along with the wind, while scattering spores like snow... Oh, how inspiring! I must sing a song for it! Make way, please!” | ||
Strategy
Avoid striking the mushroom cap when the Core is not present; the spores the Lady in White scatters cannot be dispelled and deal a lot of damage when they detonate.
Chevrotain's Clean Life Habit can be used to reduce poison damage.
Lord of Ice
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Event Story for "Rabbit Hero & Exquisite Feast" |
| |
“No quote exists for this Boss in the Cellien Gallery.” | ||
Strategy
Be careful about how you place your Friends above or below the platform, and keep an eye on those ice blocks; [Frostbite] sucks. You'll need to time your Miracle usage well; this Boss uses its head as a shield and can easily mitigate most attacks, but if you fire off a ranged Miracle when its head is out of position you can get the jump on it.
Tsuchinoko can be a pretty effective striker for this purpose, if the Lord of Ice you're fighting is
Splendor Radiance.
Lord of the Sand
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“It is sly, and it often appears out of nowhere in sandstorms. It would sometimes also suddenly unleash spikes and poison to hurt us Friends. Be very, very careful against it.” | ||
Strategy
This guy can be a real thorn in the side. At the start of the fight, while the Cores may tempt you, it's not always a good idea to break its armor right away; when the armor breaks, the Boss' ATK gets a boost, and if you break the armor too early it will have that boost on its first charged attack. By delaying the armor break, you prevent that ATK buff and make its first charged attack a lot easier to handle.
Lost Signpost
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids | ||
“Suddenly, the flowers all began to bloom. I still remember the scene, it was like a strange dream... After further research, we found that there were many sorts of flowers: some do powerful attacks, some can heal themselves, some are poisonous... Note: We still do not know their source of power. It may be lost travelers, or it may be soil that is saturated with Sandstar.” | ||
Strategy
Careful placement of Friends and keen Miracle usage can prevent this tricky Boss from getting the best of you. It's usually a good idea to send your
Control Friend to the white patch of flowers to destroy it turn 1, otherwise you'll have to deal with
Poison. However, if you have Friends with you who can remove
Poison easily, this isn't as much of a concern.
Nest of Thorns
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“The brambles are haunted! I was passing them, and suddenly a round, bulging eye popped out from it! Then another, and another...! I immediately ran, but some spiked vines that had not been there tripped me... It was terrible! I still get shivers down my neck whenever I think of it!” | ||
Strategy
Quicksand King
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“A crown in the sand? Weasel and the others think that it's just a coincidence, but I believe that it's an omen. It means that I'm one step closer to ruling over the whole Kingdom!” | ||
Strategy
Pretty much invincible if you don't decrease its Dry RES. Bring
Heal Friends to deal with that pesky trait; one's good, two's ideal.
Restless Screech
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“That afternoon, I woke up and saw Bactrian Camel tossed high up in the sky by the sandstorm. It was terrible... Luckily, she landed on soft sand, without a scratch.” | ||
Strategy
Gotta dispel the swirling sands. You literally cannot tank their damage, they're an automatic KO when their timers run out.
Rumbling Tank
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“Rumble, rumble... Ever since I came across this thing on the path by the jungle, I've been hearing this non-stop rumbling inside my head nanoda. The driver was on road rage and splattered mud right into my face! Big disgrace nanoda!” | ||
Strategy
Friends who can boost your team's PDEF are the antithesis of this Boss.
Guard Friends are a great way to mess this Boss up!
Screech
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ||
“There are quite a few symbiotic Ceruleans like these in the Kingdom, and they would fight in tandem to gain an edge in battle. Don't be fooled by their cute looks.” | ||
Strategy
Everyone hates Screech, and for good reason: Screech is really just the worst sometimes. Use
Shoebill as your
Control Friend to avoid the Boss' opening attack, as it only hits grounded melee targets.
Shadow Flash
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“An eerie blue bolt of light appeared over the plains that night and went for me. It paralyzed me. It was lucky that the others in the Patrol came in time... When I came back to my senses, I saw a mysterious shadow flying by, then disappearing across the sky. This is a tricky enemy, so please take heed against it!” | ||
Strategy
The difference between the real Boss and its illusory clone can be discerned by looking at their eyes. The pupil in the eye of the real Shadow Flash pulsates; the eye of the clone doesn't move at all. Attack the head with the pulsating eye to stun the Boss.
Silver Butterfly Knight
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“ I was watching the moon on the tree at the village when the Silver Butterfly Knight flew by and flexed its wings. Bright, silver light filled the sky, almost washing out the moon. Oh, by the way, the Silver Butterfly Knight has sharp wings so be careful.” | ||
Strategy
Friends who can clear buffs from enemies can be really helpful, as can removal of the [Wounded] affliction.
Skullface Jellyfish
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Subway |
| |
“Back in the day, people would wear all sorts of fancy masks during festivals and sing and dance... Hey, this guy here is wearing a mask too, so maybe it loves festivals like me?” | ||
Strategy
Spurting Moving Castle
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“Have you ever seen a flying castle? I thought I was dreaming when I saw it. It was zooming towards me, and firing water orbs at the same time... Lucky that I was fast, or it would have got me...” | ||
Strategy
Those debuffs can really stack up. Friends who remove debuffs from the team, such as
Raccoon, can be pretty helpful here.
Strange Birds and the Giant Tree
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“That day I was cutting down trees like usual, and a big one suddenly began to shake, followed by a flock of strange birds that went straight for me... I was so scared that I leaped into the river. Lost my pile of timber too, sigh... You be careful out there.” | ||
Strategy
That rage state is no joke. Make sure to dispel it promptly.
Ticking Stone Clock
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sandstone Dunes |
| |
“Tick tock, tick tock, tick! That guy seems to be able to manipulate this "time" thing. When it gets mad, an eerie crack will appear out of thin air... You should seize the time and defeat it!” | ||
Strategy
Uncontrollable Fuel Tank
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story |
| |
“The Uncontrollable Fuel Tank would spit oil and light it up to burn the vicinity. We Friends are all afraid of fire, so it's really tough to deal with it. You should make sure to avoid fire yourself too.” | ||
Strategy
The burning damage generally isn't that bad, but if it's giving you trouble,
Chevrotain's Clean Life Habit can be used to reduce that damage. Note that the Boss will spew oil pools on both sides of itself, first creating one in front and then later creating one behind itself.
Unstable Scale
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Subway |
| |
“It's amazing! It was the first time that I saw a Cerulean like this, and it was so exciting, so I jumped on it. But then it's really unpredictable, so it's hard to hunt it! You're smart, so you must be able to think of a way to defeat it?” | ||
Strategy
Unstable Scale is a weird one. It's virtually invincible if its scales are unbalanced, so you'll need to carefully manage the placements of your Friends and keep an eye on when blocks the Boss places will disintegrate; sometimes you want to make the scales balanced immediately, but other times the trick is to distribute Friends so that the scales will be balanced in a few turns, once the blocks the Boss throws are gone.
Wind-Eroded Nest
| Sprite | Found In | Quick Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main Story, Raids |
| |
“Outrageous! The Ceruleans are appearing in hordes, and they are building nests in the sand. The Sand Castle shall not allow this to continue! You, go teach them a good lesson. Use caution.” | ||
Strategy
Destroy the Sand Bats to dispel their swirling sands. The
Group Assault Friends
Golden Eagle and
Crested Ibis are super useful for this fight, for three reasons.
- For one, they're both
flying Friends, and the Sand Bats are flying enemies; this means they can't be chipped down by the passive attacks of ground-bound Friends. - The second reason is that their AoE Miracles have the ability to destroy numerous Sand Bats simultaneously, which is often necessary; if there are two Sand Bats alive each with a swirling sand active, a single-target Miracles will only destroy one, allowing the other to knock out its target Friend.
- Relatedly, the third reason is that their AoE Miracles damage all parts of the Wind-Eroded Nest simultaneously, resulting in colossal chip damage when using these Friends as a support.
