Striated Caracara is a type of Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.

Appearance

Old Design

Striated Caracara has brown eyes, very long messy black hair with the ends projecting sideways and small grey color at the tips. Her middlemost bang is pale grey with yellow patterns on each side resembling the caracara’s beak and yellow cere. On each side of her hair there are a pair of large black wings, with brown and grey stripes. She has a fan-like bird tail that fades from grey to black. She is in a grey military officer uniform and black frilly short skirt. She also wears brown gloves and yellow boots.

Redesign

Striated Caracara has darker eyes, similar hairstyle except the hair tips fade to dark brown instead of grey. The pair of black wings have stripes of brown and pale grey. She now wears a lolita-styled dress: black and brown coat on top of black short skirt.

Round her neck there is a striped light brown scarf with a red bean as decoration. She wears yellow knee-highs with frilly cuffs and yellow penny loafers.

A striated caracara in the Falkland Islands.

Also known as Forster's caracara, or "Johnny Rook" by the local population of the Falklands, the striated caracara is a bird of prey that can be found in very southern islands of South America (Tierra del Fuego around Cape Horn) and the Falkland Islands. This bird lives in rocky coasts, open lowlands and coastal mountain slopes, sharing its habitat with rockhopper penguins and other seabirds. Their plumage is almost black in color, while the legs and lores are orange and the neck is flecked with gray. Their hooked bill is gray in color, with orange-yellow cere.

These birds are social scavengers, usually foraging in groups to seek carrion, commonly in the form of dead colonial seabirds, and occasionally attacking weak or stranded animals like sheep. As this type of food is scarce, they soon disperse in search of carrion and small animals, including invertebrates.

They are fearless of humans and are known to attack campsites while searching for food. Striated caracaras are naturally very intelligent and curious birds. They were heavily persecuted in the past for their ability to kill newborn lambs but are now officially protected by Falkland Islands law. Due to their very restricted habitat, the striated caracara is sometimes said to be the rarest raptor in the world.
