Moose is a Friend who first appears in Episode 6 - Plains of the original Kemono Friends anime as a major character.

Personality

Moose is a simple-minded Friend who rushes into everything head-first, be it combat or friendship. She leaps at any chance she can get to test the abilities of herself and others, and is delighted when she finds out how capable someone truly is. She takes the ongoing competition between Lion and herself seriously, and her great strength and positive attitude inspire confidence in her allies.

Role in the Plot

Episode 6 - Plains

Moose first appears when Kaban and Serval join her army for the next fight against Lion, meeting with her allies and herself. Moose proposes a basic training session before the next battle, pairing off all Friends present into sparring partners; she ends up fighting Giant Armadillo, but defeats the armored Friend in a single mighty blow.

During the ball-popping battle proposed by Kaban, Moose and Panther Chameleon infiltrate Lion's base, but are stopped by Japanese Black Bear; Panther Chameleon holds the defender at bay so that her leader can advance. Shortly thereafter, Moose finally meets Lion face-to-face for a duel wherein both Friends give their all, their match concluding in a draw when both leaders' ball-shaped targets are simultaneously burst. At the end of the episode, she and Lion returns to the others and declare the end of the day's battle, both leaders laughing together from the fun they'd had.

Episode 7 - Japari Library

Moose gives Kaban and Serval directions to the Japari Library and sees the pair of travellers off.

Episode 8 - PPP Live

At the end of the episode, Moose meets Raccoon and Fennec Fox.

Episode 12 - Amusement Park

Moose joins the battle against the Black Cellien, being carried in by Campo Flicker; she is accompanied by Lion, who is herself escorted by Crested Ibis. She is later seen at the after-party, where she admires a befuddled Jaguar's powerful arms and demands a duel from her.

Relationships

Lion

Moose and Lion seem to be both friends and rivals, holding frequent battles between their armies and themselves. These fights are more comparable to an ongoing game than a serious spat, though they do involve physical combat that can cause injuries; it is only after Kaban and Serval pass through that they begin holding less dangerous duels, more akin to sports competitions.

Crested Porcupine, Giant Armadillo, Panther Chameleon, White Rhinoceros

Members of Moose's army. They train together diligently for bouts against Lion's group, working together in their battles and eventually cooperating in a plan to beat their long-time rivals.

Trivia

• Ironically, Moose and Lion's voice actresses share the same first name; Moose is voiced by Mariko Kouda, and Mariko Honda voices Lion.

• Prior to her role as Moose, Mariko Kouda voiced Dire Wolf, Giant Anteater, Inugami Gyoubu, Northern Fur Seal, Pronghorn, and Squirrel Glider in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
