Role in the Plot
Hippo first appears in Episode 1, when Serval and Kaban head towards a pond in other to drink water. She rises up from the pond, surprising Kaban, and explains that she was drinking water - she then proceeds to ask where they are going and who Kaban is, advise the two about the Ceruleans, and attempt to find out what animal Kaban is, to no avail. She returns during the Cerulean fight at the end of the episode, where she jumps to defend Kaban, and holds one of the tentacles of the Gate Cerulean until it is defeated.
