Tamandua is a mammalian Friend that appears briefly during Episode 2 during the Jungle Tour.
Appearance
Tamandua has very short white hair. Her middlemost bang, that is shaped like a tamandua's beak, fades into black. Her animal ears are brown and orange on the underside, and white on the behind. She wears a white shirt that is massively furred on the sleeves, even drooping down. She has a similarly furred collar, tied by a white ribbon. She wears a black skirt with straps. It has massively furred trims. She has solid white thigh-highs. She wears white boots that fade into black at the tips and have white ribbons. Like most Friends who's origin animals have tails, Tamandua also has one. Hers fits her species - the southern tamandua.

In Real Life
The Southern Tamandua is found in South America from Venezuela and Trinidad to northern Argentina, southern Brazil, and Uruguay at elevations to 2000 m. It is adaptable to a variety of habitats, including gallery forests adjacent to savannas, lowland and montane moist tropical rain forest, as well as mangroves.
The Southern Tamandua eat ants and termites (mainly arboreal forms), which they locate by scent. They avoid eating ants that are armed with strong chemical defenses, such as army ants and leaf-eating ants. Tamanduas are also thought to eat honey and bees and, in captivity, have been known to eat fruit and meat as well. The jaguar is one of the only predators of the Southern tamandua to have been discovered. The southern anteater uses its powerful forearms in self-defense. If it is threatened in a tree it grasps a branch with its hindfeet and tail, leaving its arms and long, curved claws free for combat. If attacked on the ground, this anteater backs up against a rock or a tree and grabs the opponent with its forearms.
The collared anteater is mainly nocturnal but is occasionally active during the day. It is thought to nest during the day in hollow tree trunks or in the burrows of other animals. These animals are solitary.
