Boss drives the bus head to the Desert Area, he proposes them to contemplate the landscape with the window above the bus's ceiling. While Kaban and Serval are amazed by the wide and neverending landscape of the beautiful desert, a sudden large and frightful sandstorm block their way. Panicked, Boss quickly decides to drive back to avoid it, however the bus gets stuck by the sand. Kaban and Serval leave the bus to push it in hope to move the vehicule away from the incoming sandstorm, until serval's head abruptly gets hit by an uncoming Friends from the sky. The wheels of the bus are set free from the sand, boss immediatly escape. Kaban, Serval and the unknown Friend climbs behind the bus in time, finally secured from the sandstorm.

The unknown Friend presents herself as Sand Cat, a curious Friend that can quickly lose interest on the things she discovers. She remembers being intrigued by the sandstorm before, but got accidently trapped in it, which threw her on Serval. Before she could continue to speak, her curious personality takes over, she immediately stop to admire the japari bus, but lose interest again. She acts the same way on Kaban's feather attached to her hat, which she mingled with animal's ears, and Boss's ability to talk.

Kaban, Serval and the new Friend, Sand Cat, reunited together in the japari bus

The group gets out the bus to have a closer look on the desert's environment and share a conversation with Sand cat. Afterwards, Kaban and Serval notice the high temperature that gradually increase, Boss explains that the temperature can be often extreme in deserts, it can exceed 100 degrees fahrenheit. Many animals evolved in the desert to be tolerant of the heat and not easily dehydrated. The floor of the bus is suddenly burning Kaban and Serval's feets because of the heat, however thanks to Sand Cat's natural thick fur, she can resists the temperature of the floor.

To avoid the high temperatures, Sand Cat invites Kaban and Serval to a cool place, her house. When they arrive, Sand Cat offers Japari buns to her guests. Because of the cold night of the desert, Kaban and Serval are stuck in Sand Cat's house. Sand Cat gives her help to show them an another way to the library, hidden a tunnel below her house. Kaban and Serval say their last words to Sand Cat before they continue their trip on the mysterious road. On a bend, they discover an another suspicious tunnel which they decide to visit.

As they go deeper in the tunnel, Serval accidently hit an abandonned geta on the ground which close the path behind them and activate a hallway of torchs that reveal a mysterious gigantic labyrinth made of wood also known as The Underground Labyrinth. Kaban and Serval meet Tsuchinoko who madly scream of anger on them while hiding behind a pillar to calm herself. Tsuchinoko accepts to give her assistance to find the exit, even if she feel uncomfortable to carry such weight as Kaban and Serval with her. She can easily find the exit because of scent of the air outside, and her ability to see danger and avoid it.

Encounter with the mythological Friend, Tsuchinoko

As they continue, they end up on a dead-end because of the lava which block an exit door, they take an another corridor. A group of ceruleans wait them behind a wooden fence, blocking their way. Serval blindly try to reassured Kaban and tsuchinoko, while the ceruleans pass throught the fence.

The groupe run away from the ceruleans, and drag them on a bridge which fall because of the ceruleans weight. Tsuchinoko find a coin also known as "Japari coin", the ancient currency of Japari park.
