A series of murals in the Desert Castle depicting Kings of old.

Kings are among the most powerful and well-respected Friends in Kingdom, the eponymous setting of the Kemono Friends Kingdom mobile game. Wise, mighty, and benevolent, these Friends do not tend to govern so much as protect; they do have royal duties, but the exact nature of these tasks is unclear.

Overview

The process by which a King is chosen is inconclusive, with even Friends celebrating the arrival of a new King being unsure how the process works when asked. It is known that the process is not by bloodline, as with conventional monarchy, nor is it by a democratic vote. A Friend's strength, kindness, and conviction seem to be relevant factors.

History

Kings have existed for a long stretch of Kingdom's history. Murals within Desert Castle depict Kings who held their titles unknown spans of years prior to the events of Kemono Friends Kingdom, their reigns long since forgotten by modern Friends. As these Kings had their portraits featured in a grand pyramid- a structure often associated with pharaohs- and appeared to dress in regalia, it is possible that these ancient Kings ruled as monarchy, unlike contemporary Kings who seem to lack much of any governing authority.

Known Kings

Contemporary, as of Kemono Friends Kingdom

Historical

  • An unknown King resembling the contemporary King African Bush Elephant
  • An unknown King resembling Woolly Mammoth
  • An unknown King allegedly resembling the King of Ice Castle

Guards

Kings seem to frequently be paired up with Guards, powerful Friends who dedicate themselves to defending the King and their Castle. These Guards tend to be close-knit with their Kings and may act as advisory counsel.

Known Guards

Castles

Main article: Castle (Kingdom)
Friends granted the title of King live in structures called Castles; these are not strictly castles in the conventional sense, but rather can be any large or significant structure within a given area deemed to be of value, be it historical, strategic, aesthetic, or so on forth. The Castles which have thus far been identified are as follow:

  • Churaumi Castle: an abandoned cruise ship in an Ocean Area
  • Desert Castle: a large pyramid in a Desert Area
  • Jungle Castle: a truly colossal tree in the middle of a Jungle Area
