A list of all Friends based on omnivorous, small-to-medium sized canids collectively known as foxes. While the term "fox" can be applied to canids from various genera, only members of the genus Vulpes—which includes well-known species such as the arctic fox and red fox—are considered to be "true foxes"; they have a dedicated category page, which is linked below. The other extant genera containing species commonly called "foxes", despite not being "true foxes", are as follows:
- Cerdocyon, which is composed of only a single species: the crab-eating fox.
- Lycalopex, which is composed of the South American foxes, also known as rapossa or zorro; despite being called foxes, they are closer to jackals and wolves than true foxes.
- Otocyon, which is composed of only the bat-eared fox, which is divided into two subspecies. They are considered a sister taxon to Vulpes.
- Urocyon, which is composed of the gray fox and island fox.
This list also includes some UMA Friends who are based on foxes or fox-like entities.
