The Desert Castle, also known as the Sand Castle, is a key location in Kingdom, the setting of the Kemono Friends Kingdom mobile game. It houses the Giant Labyrinth and the throne room of the Desert Castle's king.
Overview
The Desert Castle is a large building in a Desert Area of Kingdom, its architecture evoking that often associated with ancient Egyptian structures. Its sandstone walls are adorned with carvings and murals depicting figures and symbols from both ancient Egyptian mythology and the history of Kingdom itself.
The exterior of the Desert Castle is that of a massive pyramid, weathered away by time and sand and reinforced with additional sandstone construction; it features a massive rectangular entryway in the front. The castle is surrounded by obelisks and other, smaller pyramids, as well as rubble from previous structures; additionally nearby is an oasis overlooked by a statue akin to the Great Sphinx of Giza, an ancient and culturally-significant statue in Egypt.
Known inhabitants of the Desert Castle include African Rock Python, Tsuchinoko, King Cheetah, and the castle's acting king, King Cobra.
Giant Labyrinth

The Giant Labyrinth is a massive maze which leads to the Desert Castle's throne room. Much like the castle proper, the maze walls are decorated with various ancient artworks. A shortcut in the maze exists: a staircase accessed through a hidden passage. The walls of this pitch-black corridor are adorned with depictions of the ancient kings of Kingdom's past, some of whom strongly resemble the realm's contemporary kings. At least one wall of the maze is directly connected to an underground reservoir; Tsuchinoko deduces this to be a reservoir of the Silent River during her investigations of the Desert Castle.
Those wishing to meet with the castle's king must clear the maze in a set time span, and even after having done so may be stopped by the castle's acting guard, African Rock Python. Maze-goers must bypass the guard and press a button on the wall behind her in order to stop the timer and confirm their victory.
Throne Room
The castle's throne room is a wide and open room supported by great pillars and watched over by a pair of canine statues, likely depicting jackals. Green plant life grows among the ancient floor and pillars, and a heavy golden throne sits in the rear-middle of the throne room, and behind this throne is hidden an old storage room. Its only known contents are an old boat, which is granted to Jinri and her company to allow them to escape an oncoming flood- a consequence of a Cellien attack.
History
As suggested by its historic murals of Kingdom's past rulers, it can be supposed that the Desert Castle is a long-standing structure, dating back potentially as far as to when the kings depicted were alive and ruling.
King Cobra was once a disciple of the former king of Desert Castle, an unidentified Friend who conceded her position to King Cobra some time before the events of Kemono Friends Kingdom.
In the third chapter of Kemono Friends Kingdom, one wall of the maze is shattered by a Cellien attack, causing water from the adjacent reservoir to flood the maze. The status of repairs to the maze, if any, is not established.
