Sand Cat is a Friend that appears in Kemono Friends Kingdom.

Personality

A somewhat capricious and eccentric Friend, it can be hard to know what Sand Cat is thinking or how she's feeling in a particular moment; her peppy playfulness and naive innocence are frequently juxtaposed with a sharp and thoughtful mind, dedicated vigilance, and a calm demeanor. She spends a lot of time and energy keeping an eye out for Friends struggling in the desert sands, leading them to shelter and water with a gentle hand and a smile—sometimes expending too much energy and needing a reminder that she can't help anyone if she fails to take care of herself. Despite how harsh and unforgiving the desert sands can be, Sand Cat's favorite thing is... well, desert sand. She loves to play in it, she loves the feeling of it, and she loves the Desert Area as a whole; she doesn't typically see much reason to stray far from its dunes.

Like other incarnations of the Friend, Kingdom's Sand Cat is also prone to losing interest in an activity she was previously deeply invested in with a jarring suddenness.

She maintains a variety of plants, one of which is a rose kept in a small greenhouse in the Desert Castle. She also has a doll she cares for, simply called Doll; it is unclear to what extent she understands that Doll is inanimate.

Role in the Plot

Treasures Beyond the Horizon

Sand Cat plays a central role in the story of Treasures Beyond the Horizon, being the one to bring the treasure hunt to Tsuchinoko's attention and bringing the duo to join with Jinri's party and ascend the mountaintop. It is also Sand Cat who ultimately locates the treasure hidden at the mountaintop.

Despite African Rock Python's important job and imposing aura, Sand Cat seems to have no fear of her and understands her good nature.

Tsuchinoko

Sand Cat and Tsuchinoko are a very odd pair of clashing personalities. The reclusive Tsuchinoko doesn't tend to mesh with the outgoing Sand Cat especially well, and yet the feline Friend has a great knack for pulling Tsuchinoko out of her shell.

Wild Bactrian Camel

Sand Cat and Wild Bactrian Camel, both being Desert Area experts, often work together to seek out desert-weary Friends and help them recuperate.

Sand Cat is the quintessential Control Friend for Brilliance teams and players who lack Shoebill for their teams of other Radiance types. She has great power and utility despite being a five-star Friend, and one should not be afraid to use her, though players who do have Shoebill will typically get more use out of the avian Friend's overall stronger kit on non-Brilliance teams.

While she lacks the ability of Shoebill and Jaguar to act as AoE controllers, she is fantastic in situations where only a single-target controller is called for. She should generally be used over Jaguar when battling any Boss other than the Nest of Thorns.
