In Real Life:	[[File:Real_indri.jpg\|230px\|thumb\|upright=1.0\|left\|Indri at Mantadia National Park, Andasibe (Perinet), Madagascar.]] Indris are a species found in the northeastern section of Madagascar. They are one of the largest lemurs currently living, being around 7 kg of weight and around 60 cm in length. They have round tufted ears, small yellowish eyes and a button nose, reason as to why their faces resemble a bear or a dog more than other primates. Their silky pelage is mainly covered in black and white, while also presenting gray and brown coloration. Their large toes and fingers are very good for climbing, and those primates are mostly found leaping among the trees with their short arms and long slender legs. Indris live in the tropical rain forest and humid forest of Madagascar, feeding on fruits, leaves and flowers, rarely being found in the ground. They are active during the day, and they are well known for their distinctive calls that can last up to 3 minutes, with different groups singing together, answering to one another. Indris live in small groups consisting on the mating couple and their consequent offspring, denoting a monogamous lifestyle. Females give birth every 2 or 3 years, with a gestation period of 120 to 150 days. The mother is primarily the one that takes care of them mother takes care of the infant, and the young stay close to their mothers for almost two years. They reach sexual maturity after around 7 or 9 years. Due to this low birth rate, small population density, loss of habitat and constant hunting, the Indris are currently Critically Endangered. The hunt of Indris have been considered taboo by the local populations for a long time, but some locals groups have shown no objections for hunting and killing those primates.
Trivia:	* Indris have particularly small tails, that are mainly only perceptible to touch. * Attempts at keeping Indris in captivity have never been successful, making the conservation of this species much more difficult.
